Montreal has always had a fantastic jazz scene and here’s a recent show that proves it. A wonderful jazz orchestra under the guidance of Christine Jensen and featuring her sister Ingrid on trumpet, brought to us by the excellent CBC radio. I’m sending this out to Kim who just went toe to toe with the great Kenny Wheeler and more than lived to tell the tale.

Jim Beard’s played with an absolute “who’s who” of modern music but has only led groups of his own on the odd occasion so this live show is a great chance to hear him right to the fore. Over at Bogards Jazz Tapes there’s another show from this tour and if you haven’t already grabbed it, I’d get over there right away.
