Michael Brecker Quintet : St.Lucia Jazz Fest, 9.5.2003

Michael Brecker : Tenor saxophone
Joey Calderazzo : Acoustic piano
Adam Rogers : Electric guitar
Larry Grenadier : Acoustic bass
Clarence Penn: Drums

Great boot with the master still on great form. Adam Rogers plays a storm here and if you don’t already have it, his CD ‘Allegory’ is my fave listen of the moment and is well worth checking out.

  1. Adam Rogers is an amazing guitar player. I love hearing him in the this group. I could do without the people yelling into the recorder after solos, but Michael Brecker’s playing usually causes me to say something out loud as well so who can blame them.

thanks for sharing this gem. Man, I miss Michael Brecker. :(

You really are most welcome, and I must agree with your comments about the screaming. I have a wonderful set from Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins which I can’t share because it’s ruined by the taper who all the way thru’ the gig explains to his date that this music is amazing and why they’re so lucky to be there. To be honest I’m not crazy about all the whooping at the golf either but, one thing at a time.
